With all of the conflicting opinions and guidance proffered by the authorities and available on social media it is becoming ever confusing as to what action we as individuals/businesses should be doing in these uncertain times and rapidly changing circumstances.

There is understandably confusion over when a site is in lock down, should the monitoring/sampling and works to ensure the prevention of Legionella Pneumophila (Legionnaires Disease) continue. The current mortality rate for Corona Virus is 3% and is likely to reduce as more individuals with the virus recover. However, the mortality rate for Legionnaires Disease is over 3 times this at 10%. Hence on one hand by not completing Legionella control measures by not allowing contractors on site to complete this, the risk of Corona virus is perceived to be reduced. However, the risk of Legionnaires disease is increased and flies in the face of the requirements to regularly monitor water systems.
As the situation unfolds, and government and NHS advice changes, we are continually adapting and putting in place new operational plans for our staff to preserve our service levels.
However, we are experiencing high levels of calls and at times may have a reduced number of people at work, so our call wait times may be longer than usual, I apologise for this and ask for your understanding. We have upgraded our telephone system enabling office staff to work from home whilst being able to manage telephone calls and access our computer systems as if they are in the office.
Where possible and in the first instance, I urge all customers to utilise the secure customer portal accessed via the customer login which enables customers to manage and check all requirements.
