No Ordinary Team Day

No Ordinary Team Day: Pirates, Prizes and the 12 Days of Legionella Returns
Once a year the Irrigonics team gets in the same room. Here is what that looks like — and why it matters.
Water hygiene is largely a solo occupation. Engineers work alone, driving between sites, logging results, moving on. The office team connects the pieces. Everyone is connected — but rarely together.
Once a year, that changes. On 8th June 2026, the whole business came together for a day of training, honest conversation, recognition, and something competitive at the end of it. Here is what happened.
A Reason to Be Proud
The directors opened with something straightforward: a reason to be proud. Clients served, sites managed, jobs completed — all delivered across the UK and Ireland, often alone, without anyone watching.
“You are an incredibly talented team and you should all be extremely proud of yourselves.”
That pride is earned. ISO accreditation with not a single non-compliance. LCA membership. SSIP and Constructionline at the highest compliance standard. A growing client base built on repeat business, recommendations, and trust. None of that happens by accident.
The Work Matters — So Does the Person Doing It
The wellbeing session opened with an honest acknowledgement -2025 to 2026 was a hard year. Challenges landed on the team and the team absorbed them. “This year has had many challenges. But we have overcome them all.”
Everyone had space to say what was making work harder and what was making it better. The session ended with specific commitments -regular check-ins, fair workloads, clear job information before visits, and a promise that the feedback would be acted on. Not filed away.
Training and the Practical Stuff
The morning included refresher training on ladder safety and manual handling – not glamorous, but essential for a team working in plant rooms, on rooftops, and in confined spaces. Practical, grounded, and the kind that actually sticks.
Alongside that, the team worked through the housekeeping that keeps a field-based business running -PPE, equipment checks, calibration, documentation. The foundations that clients notice even when they cannot always say why.
What Good Service Actually Looks Like
The service improvement board gave the team space to say what they believe makes Irrigonics different. The themes did not come from a management presentation — they came from the engineers and support staff themselves.
Professionalism without exception. Clear, honest communication at every stage. Transparency — no surprises, no loose ends. Every part of every job completed to the highest standard. And customer relationships built on consistency and genuine care for the outcome.
Not aspirations. Standards the team holds itself to — and the reason clients keep coming back.
Competitions, Prizes — and the Mandatory Booby Prize
The afternoon competitions brought out the competitive side of the team. The Legionella crossword tested technical knowledge across the group. The photo competition went to Kieran for his candid on-site entry.
The booby prize went to Dale Hunter our Technical Director, and, as it turns out, part-time pirate. With a knee replacement keeping him off site, Dale couldn’t enter the field photo competition. Dale was not going to be left out. He submitted a photo in full Captain Hook costume, hook and all, with the caption: “Arrr… hand over your temperature records and nobody gets a non-conformance.” The whole team loved it. Turns out there is a lot more to Dale than compliance and technical guidance. The booby prize has never been more deserved.
Lunch at Bella Italia was followed by bowling — the kind of afternoon that reminds everyone that the people they work alongside are genuinely good company. A team that enjoys time together works better together.
And Then There Was the Video…
Last year, a vision was born. A carol. Three people singing in completely different keys. The 12 Days of Legionella was almost unleashed on the world — and then fate intervened. The mission was paused. Not cancelled. Paused.
This year the team unveiled the official comeback trailer. Superhero imagery. Dramatic voiceover. The Legionella Avengers — Water Hygiene Warriors, Monitoring Masters, Flush Champions — are back and ready to finish what they started.

The Year Ahead
The day closed with a look ahead. The direction is clear, the team is aligned, and the ambition is there.
Why We Do This Every Year
The team is spread across the country — a venue is simply what it takes to get everyone together. But what happens inside it is entirely Irrigonics. Honest conversation, proper training, and time spent together as people rather than job numbers on a route plan.
Every satisfied client and every renewed contract happened because of this team. One day a year to recognise that, invest in it, and finish with good food and something competitive — that is not an indulgence. It is how you build a team that keeps getting mightier.
